Melissa J. Ware grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, one of seven siblings. She first became interested in dentistry at the age of 12, when the need for braces and a dedicated dental professional taught her the value of a commitment to good oral health care. It was an interest that led her to take a dental assisting class while still in high school and later prompted her to enroll in the dental hygiene program at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.
Graduating from Weber with honors and an anesthesia license in 1995, Melissa embarked on a career as a private practice dental hygienist. Currently working as a full-time hygienist at the office of Dr. Shannon D. Lawson, Melissa has contributed to the practice by implementing a perio program and by working diligently to perfect and enhance her considerable skills through continuing education. Her most recent success in this area was earning Arestin certification.
Melissa’s mission is to provide each patient with individual attention, which includes taking the time to educate patients about their unique dental needs and the unique, patient-centered solutions and therapies that best address those needs. During her 13 years as a hygienist, she has learned to approach this mission by listening to patients and interpret their verbal cues; it as an art that helps her motivate and educate patients to understand and appreciate the benefits of quality dental care.
Melissa is passionate about her work and committed to a philosophy that views dentistry as a profession with the power to change lives. Her passion for her work is grounded in a desire to make a difference, one patient at a time.
Other passions in Melissa’s life are her marriage and her five fantastic kids and keeping active. Although she lives in a state renown for its ski slopes, Melissa’s work-out agenda is focused on water sports: boating, snorkeling, and scuba diving, preferably on bright days that present an opportunity to bask in Utah’s glorious sunshine.
